Calibrachoa, Callie™ Painted Coral Calibrachoa, Painted Coral Million Bells

From a distance, the numerous flowers covering the trailing stems of Callie™ Painted Coral seem rich fuchsia-pink. Only with close inspection does a singular tubular blossom look more coral-rose, with each of the five petal lobes edged with light peachy pink. Deep in the flower throats yellow is seen. This cousin of the petunia has more wiry stems that don't break as readily and seem to avoid infestation by tobacco budworms. It performs best where growing temperatures are moderately warm, not too hot and humid.
The spreading, trailing Calibrachoa hybrids in the Callie™ Series were introduced by Goldsmith Seeds/Syngenta. Million bells are warm-season annuals to tender perennials with low mounding to trailing habits. They are well-branched and flower prolifically with numerous small, funnel-shaped, petunia-like flowers that come in nearly every color.
Heat-loving and everblooming, million bells grow best in full sun and fertile, well-drained soil. They should be fed regularly and do not require deadheading but bloom better again in fall if they are lightly trimmed back by late summer. These versatile, heavy-blooming bedding plants work well in containers, hanging baskets and border edges.
