Botanical Name

CAMPANULA lactiflora 'Pouffe'

Plant Common Name

Milky Bellflower, Pouffe Milky Bellflower

General Description

'Pouffe' is a dwarf form of milky bellflower, an herbaceous perennial native to Turkey and the Caucasus Mountains of Eurasia. In early summer to fall, it bears numerous panicles of starry, bell-shaped, lavender-blue flowers. They are displayed on short, branched stems atop mounds of medium-green, toothed, oval-shaped foliage.

Milky bellflower grows best in full to partial sun and moist, rich, well-drained soil. Plants may be propagated by division, and also self-sow freely if allowed, so faded flowers should be cut back if new plants are not desired. This old-fashioned perennial is at home in cottage gardens and mixed borders.
