CAMPANULA longestyla 'Isabella Blue'

Image of Campanula longestyla 'Isabella Blue'

Family

Campanulaceae

Botanical Name

CAMPANULA longestyla 'Isabella Blue'

Plant Common Name

Bellflower, Isabella Blue Bellflower

General Description

Offering a long season of abundant bloom, ‘Isabella Blue’ is a dwarf, compact bellflower with origins in alpine regions of western Asia and southern Europe. Its large, lavender-blue, bell-shaped flowers are displayed above lush, rounded, dark green foliage from spring throughout fall, and often obscure the leaves in the first flush of bloom.

Grow 'Isabella Blue' in full sun to part shade in fertile, loose, moist but well-drained soil which is not allowed to dry out. The cooler the summers, the finer the performance of this plant will be. Faded flowers should be sheared back to encourage heavier bloom. This compact plant is well-suited to alpine beds, rock gardens, or the front of mixed borders. It has also become popular as a seasonal potted plant for the house and as a bedding annual.
