Family

Campanulaceae

Botanical Name

CAMPANULA persicifolia 'La Bello' PP14710

Plant Common Name

La Bello Peachleaf Bellflower, Peachleaf Bellflower

General Description

The patented cultivar 'La Bello' has upright sturdy stems lined with double bell-shaped flowers of ivory. It is easy to grow, and the pretty blooms of this early perennial offer old-fashioned elegance to perennial gardens. It was bred by Hubertus Oudshoorn of The Netherlands.

Peachleaf bellflower is a rhizomatous perennial originating from Russia, Asia and Eastern Europe. It forms spreading rosettes of lance-shaped leaves that give rise to tall leafy stems in early summer. The stems of 'La Bello' support double bell-shaped blooms of ivory. Deadheading will encourage plants to rebloom, but fewer flowers are produced the second time around.

This bellflower prefers sites with full to partial sun and moist, well-drained soil. Later in the season it offers little ornamental value, so it’s best planted with annuals and perennials that are pretty in midsummer and fall. This old-fashioned perennial is ideal for cottage gardens and sunny perennial borders. Its flowers are also good for cutting.
