CAMPSIS radicans 'Flamenco'
Flamenco Trumpet Vine, Trumpet Creeper, Trumpet Vine
Trumpet vine is a very vigorous deciduous climber with dark green leaves native to the southeastern United States. 'Flamenco' shows off bright red trumpet-shaped flowers with orange throats in late summer to early fall. These fiery attention getters attract hungry hummingbirds.
Trumpet vine spreads by suckering roots. Frequent pruning is required to keep it in bounds. It grows in a wide array of soils and light exposures, but a moist, well-draining neutral soil in full sun produces the most impressive specimens. Make sure to have this big vine growing upon a very strong and large supporting structure.
