General Description
This dwarf selection has large, lily-like flowers of lemon yellow and bold leaves of medium green.
Canna is an easy-to-grow, tropical to sub-tropical, herbaceous or evergreen plant that may be grown as a perennial in tropical regions or tender perennial in temperate regions. The clump-forming plants are borne from thick fleshy rhizomes that are easy to transplant and divide. These give rise to large leaves and upright stems topped with clusters of lily-like flowers.
Canna are amazingly adaptable. Plants prefer full sun and rich moist to wet soil but can be surprisingly drought tolerant if faced with a bout of dry weather. Where not hardy, their rhizomes can be dug and brought into a cool, dry garage or basement to overwinter and planted again in spring after the last frost date.
These bold ornamentals are ideal for containers, waterside gardens or edging plants for bed and borders. Though tolerant of wet soils, they will not tolerate deep standing water.
