Carex comans 'Bronze Perfection'
Bronze Perfection Sedge, New Zealand Hair Sedge
The evergreen New Zealand hair sedge 'Bronze Perfection' is an outstanding foliage plant that's native to its namesake. In the wild, it can be found in moist open grasslands, riparian flats and in moist rocky alcoves. It is a marginally hardy perennial that’s quite tough and easy to grow.
This vigorous perennial forms neat dense clumps of fine, grassy foliage. The slender blades arch giving the clumps a fountain-like appearance. The foliage is bronzy sandy brown. Short inconspicuous spikes of flowers appear in summer but are masked by the leaves.
Grow this sedge in average to fertile soil that is well-drained but evenly moist. Enjoy this sedge in rock gardens, sunny mixed borders and containers. It combines well with all colorful annuals and perennials for sun.
