Madagascar Periwinkle, Mediterranean White Vinca, Vinca
This entry has yet to be reviewed and approved by L2G editors.
Mediterranean White vinca is a cascading tropical evergreen shrub that is grown as a tender perennial or bedding annual in temperate climates. Highly heat and drought tolerant, 'Mediterranean White' is everblooming and bears large, showy, circular flowers of a pure white on a plant that is sligtly lower than other members of the series.
Plant this tough, sun-loving ornamental in beds, borders or containers and in butterfly and seaside gardens. In tropical regions it can be planted in mixed shrub borders or along a building foundation for a perfect groundcover. Madagascar periwinkle dislikes "wet feet" and will suffer from root rot in poorly drained soils. It has a tendency to reseed itself, potentially becoming invasive in warm regions with light soils. Do not overwater this plant.
