Family

Cupressaceae

Botanical Name

CHAMAECYPARIS obtusa 'Templehof'

Plant Common Name

Hinoki Falsecypress, Templehof Hinoki Falsecypress

General Description

Descended from the Hinoki falsecypress, a native of Japan, 'Templehof is a dwarf evergreen tree grown as a shrub. It is oval or broadly pyramidal with yellow-green needles in slightly dropping flattened sprays that have white bands on the underside. In winter, the needles turn bronze.

This small tree should be sited in a full-sun location in a moist and well-drained soil. The slow growth and small size of 'Tempelhof' makes it perfect for foundation plantings or as a specimen in a mixed border, or large rockery. Protect it from cold, dry winter winds.
