Helping You Become a More Successful Gardener
CHRYSANTHEMUM x morifolium 'Anna' PP07847
Anna Chrysanthemum, Spoon Chrysanthemum
The bright yellow semi-double daisies of ‘Anna’ bring cheer to the early fall garden. Their petals are unusual because they are spoon-shaped, which adds even more flair to the showy blooms.
In spring, this clump-forming herbaceous perennial puts forth dense stems lined with medium green, fragrant, lobed leaves. In late spring to early summer it can be pinched back to encourage a more uniform shape and to increase the density of flower buds for fall. Though 'Anna' has a naturally uniform habit and dense branching. Blooming begins in early to mid-autumn. The many fragrant lemony yellow flowers are flattened and have long spoon-shaped petals, which surround darker yellow centers.
Chrysanthemums prefer full sun and fertile garden loam with good drainage. Though technically perennial, most mums are grown as annuals to include ‘Anna’, though it will survive in regions with modestly cold winters.
Mass this pretty mum in mixed borders with ornamental grasses, asters and stonecrops. In containers it looks handsome when accessorized with a variety of gourds and small pumpkins. Its flowers are great for cutting.
