CHRYSANTHEMUM x morifolium 'Aviano'
Aviano Chrysanthemum, Decorative Chrysanthemum
The lovely chrysanthemum, 'Aviano', freely produces a wealth of fully double golden flowers early in the season. It is upright, well-branched and ideal for decorative planting in late-summer or early fall.
In spring, this clump-forming herbaceous perennial puts forth dense stems lined with medium green, fragrant, lobed leaves. Flowers appear in very late summer and last for several weeks. The bright blooms are fully double and numerous.
Chrysanthemums prefer full sun and fertile garden loam with good drainage. Cushion mums such as this are usually treated as annuals, though they tend to survive in regions where winters are milder. This selection looks lovely when planted in masses and is a great companion to ornamental grasses, goldenrods, stonecrops and compact asters. It is also ideal for container plantings.
