CHRYSANTHEMUM x morifolium 'Fall' PP15951
Decorative Chrysanthemum, Spray Chrysanthemum
The chrysanthemum 'Fall' produces sprays of large double burnt-orange flowers on tall stems. The 3-inch-wide (7.5 cm), many-petaled blooms appear in autumn under "natural" conditions, but greenhouse-grown specimens will flower 8 weeks after 2 weeks of "long-night" conditioning (13.5 hours or more). This vegetatively propagated mum is sold as a cut flower by florists and other vendors. It was introduced by Yoder Brothers of Barberton, Ohio.
C. × morifolium originated in eastern Asia, where this herbaceous perennial has been cultivated and bred for many centuries. Its many cultivars are grown for their showy blooms, which are borne above clumps of fragrant, deeply lobed leaves.
Like most mums, 'Fall' thrives in full sun and a fertile, well-drained growing medium.
