CHRYSANTHEMUM x morifolium( GOLDEN PUEBLO™, PUEBLO™ SERIES)
The chrysanthemum Golden Pueblo™ produces numerous golden-yellow, green-eyed "daisies" on bushy, dome-shaped, 10- to 16- inch (25 to 40 cm) plants. The 2.5- to 3-inch-wide (6.5 to 7.5 cm), single to semi-double blooms appear in autumn under "natural" conditions, but greenhouse-grown specimens can be brought into flower at other seasons. This vegetatively propagated mum was introduced by Syngenta Crop Protection AG, Basel, Switzerland. It is grown and sold as a seasonal container plant.
C. × morifolium originated in eastern Asia, where this herbaceous perennial has been cultivated and bred for many centuries. Its many cultivars are grown for their showy blooms, which are borne above clumps of fragrant, deeply lobed leaves.
Like most mums, Golden Pueblo™ thrives in full sun and a fertile, well-drained growing medium. Greenhouse specimens flower approximately 8 weeks after 2 weeks of short-day treatment (10.5 hours or less). Pinch back developing flowering stems to encourage a tidier habit and heavier flowering.
