CHRYSANTHEMUM x morifolium 'Grace'( GRACE SERIES) PP07642
Decorative Chrysanthemum, Semi-double Chrysanthemum
The chrysanthemum 'Grace' produces numerous copper-orange "daisies" on dense, rounded, 12- to 16-inch (30 to 40 cm) plants. The 2-inch-wide (4.5 to 5.5 cm), semi-double blooms appear in early autumn, midway in the fall "mum" season. Greenhouse-grown specimens will flower 7.5 weeks after 3 weeks of "long nights" (13.5 hours or more). This vegetatively propagated mum was developed by Grace Mack of New Canaan, Connecticut.
Chrysanthemum × morifolium is an old-time favorite for fall gardens and greenhouse displays. This herbaceous perennial originated in eastern Asia, where it has long been cultivated for its showy blooms and fragrant, deeply lobed foliage. Hundreds of mum varieties are grown in modern gardens.
Like most mums, 'Grace' thrives in full sun and a fertile, well-drained growing medium. Although typically planted as seasonal annuals, most hardy mums can be used as border perennials in USDA hardiness zones 6 through 9. Pinch back developing flowering stems to encourage a tidier habit and heavier flowering.
