CHRYSANTHEMUM x morifolium 'Joker' PP14560
Florists' Chrysanthemum, Single Chrysanthemum
Developed for use as a cut flower, 'Joker' produces sprays of red, yellow-eyed "daisies" on tall stems. The 3-inch-wide (7 to 7.5 cm), single to semi-double, long-lasting blooms appear in autumn under "natural" conditions, but greenhouse-grown specimens will flower 8 weeks after 2 weeks of "long-night" treatment (13.5 hours or more). This vegetatively propagated mum was introduced by Yoder Brothers of Barberton, Ohio.
Chrysanthemum × morifolium is an old-time favorite for fall gardens and for greenhouse and cut-flower displays. This herbaceous perennial originated in eastern Asia, where it has long been cultivated for its showy blooms and fragrant, deeply lobed foliage. Hundreds of mum varieties are grown today.
Like most mums, 'Joker' thrives in full sun and a fertile, well-drained growing medium.
