CHRYSANTHEMUM x morifolium( KENT SERIES)
Developed for the cut flower trade, chrysanthemums in the Kent Series produce sprays of large, double, white or yellow blossoms on sturdy, upright, 32- to 40-inch (80 to 100 cm) stems. The 3.5-inch-wide (8 to 8.5 cm), many-petaled blooms appear in summer and autumn under "natural" conditions, but greenhouse-grown specimens can be brought into flower at other seasons. These vegetatively propagated mums were introduced by Yoder Brothers of Barberton, Ohio.
C. × morifolium originated in eastern Asia, where this herbaceous perennial has been cultivated and bred for many centuries. Its many cultivars are grown for their showy blooms, which are borne above clumps of fragrant, deeply lobed leaves.
Like most mums, those in the Kent Series thrive in full sun and a fertile, well-drained growing medium.
