Helping You Become a More Successful Gardener
CHRYSANTHEMUM x morifolium 'Kermit'
The florists' chrysanthemum 'Kermit' bears branching sprays of green, white-tinged, pompon-shaped blooms above clumps of deeply lobed, pungently scented leaves. Plants grow to 3 to 4 feet (90 to 120 cm) high and wide, and flower for several weeks in mid-fall. This pompon chrysanthemum is typically grown for the cut flower trade, but it can also be used as a garden plant in USDA Hardiness Zones 7 to 9.
Florists' chrysanthemums prefer full sun and fertile, well-drained soil. Though technically perennial, most are grown as annuals. Pinch plants back in late spring or early summer to encourage a neater habit and heavier fall flowering.
