CHRYSANTHEMUM x morifolium 'Lexy' PP16058
Florists' Chrysanthemum, Pompon Chrysanthemum
Developed for use as a cut flower, 'Lexy' produces sprays of orange, dark-centered, pompon-shaped blossoms on tall stems. The 1.5-inch-wide (4 cm), many-petaled, long-lasting blooms appear in autumn under "natural" conditions, but greenhouse-grown specimens will flower 8 weeks after 2 weeks of "long-night" treatment (13.5 hours or more). This vegetatively propagated mum was introduced and patented by the Dutch firm Fides Goldstock Breeding B.V.
Chrysanthemum × morifolium is an old-time favorite for fall gardens and for greenhouse and cut-flower displays. This herbaceous perennial originated in eastern Asia, where it has long been cultivated for its showy blooms and fragrant, deeply lobed foliage. Hundreds of mum varieties are grown today.
Like most mums, 'Lexy' thrives in full sun and a fertile, well-drained growing medium.
