CHRYSANTHEMUM x morifolium 'Milano Pink'
Decorative Chrysanthemum, Milano Pink Chrysanthemum
The chrysanthemum ‘Milano Pink’ produces an abundance of light to dark pink flowers on its mounded branches. Bred in Belgium, this decorative mum adopts a uniform cushion habit.
In spring, the clump-forming herbaceous perennial puts forth dense stems lined with medium green, fragrant, lobed leaves. In late spring to early summer it should be pinched back to encourage a more uniform shape and to increase the density of flower buds for fall. It begins flowering in early fall and continues for several weeks afterward. Its many blooms are double, uniform and totally cover the plant.
Chrysanthemums prefer full sun and fertile garden loam with good drainage. Though technically perennial, most mums are grown as annuals to include ‘Milano Pink’, though it is hardier and will survive colder winters than most.
This cultivar looks brilliant when planted in masses with ornamental grasses, upright stonecrops and pastel or burgundy asters. The muted pastel flowers are perfect for cheerful or subdued container compositions.
