CHRYSANTHEMUM x morifolium 'Molfetta'
Decorative Chrysanthemum, Molfetta Chrysanthemum
Small, fully double, lavender-pink flowers with darker centers cover this compact, mounded, early-blooming mum in late summer and early autumn.
In spring, this clump-forming herbaceous perennial develops dense stems lined with medium green, fragrant lobed leaves. It begins flowering before the autumnal equinox and continues for several weeks afterward.
Chrysanthemums prefer full sun and fertile garden loam with good drainage. Though technically perennial, most garden mums are grown as annuals. Plants are more reliably hardy if you wait to cut their spent branches back in mid-spring. Spring is also the best time to divide them, if necessary.
This mum is suitable for container and border plantings, where its cool hues blend well with pansies, ornamental kale, pumpkins, and other fall favorites.
