CHRYSANTHEMUM x morifolium 'Navary Red'
Navary Red chrysanthemum produces dense clusters of double, burgundy-red blooms on large, mounded plants. The flowers are borne in later summer and early autumn above clumps of deeply lobed, pungently scented leaves. This cultivar was introduced by the Belgian breeder Gediflora.
Like most bedding (or "decorative") mums, this herbaceous perennial prefers full sun and a fertile, well-drained growing medium. Although typically employed as a seasonal annual, it can be used as a hardy perennial in USDA hardiness zones 6 through 9. Pinch over-wintering plants back in late spring or early summer to encourage a neater habit and heavier fall flowering.
