CHRYSANTHEMUM x morifolium 'Sunny Yokristen'(SUNNY KRISTEN) PP16395
Single Chrysanthemum
The garden chrysanthemum Sunny Kristen™ bears masses of small, light lemon-yellow, golden-eyed "daisies" in early fall. The 1-inch (2.5 to 3 cm) blooms are held on dense, mounded, 8- to 12-inch (20 to 30 cm) plants. This cultivar was hybridized by Mark A. Smith of Fort Myers, Florida, and introduced by Yoder Brothers of Barberton, Ohio.
The showy blooms and pungent, lobed leaves of garden chrysanthemums are staples of the autumn flower garden. These herbaceous perennials originated in eastern Asia, where they have been bred and selected for many centuries. Garden mums are customarily planted in late summer for seasonal display.
Like most garden mums, Sunny Kristen™ thrives in full sun and a fertile, well-drained growing medium. Although typically planted as seasonal annuals, garden mums can be used as perennials in USDA hardiness zones 6 through 9. Pinch back plants in late spring or early summer to encourage a neater habit and heavier fall flowering.
