CHRYSANTHEMUM x morifolium 'Symild Yel'( MILDRED™ YELLOW, MILDRED™ SERIES)
Decorative Chrysanthemum, Hardy Chrysanthemum
Compact, hardy, and late-blooming, Mildred™ Yellow chrysanthemum produces numerous double, greenish-yellow blossoms on densely branched, rounded, 8- to 12-inch (20 to 30 cm) plants. The 2- to 2.5-inch-wide (5 to 6 cm), many-petaled blooms appear from early- to mid-autumn, toward the end of the fall "mum" season. A member of the Mildred™ Series of hardy mums, this vegetatively propagated cultivar was introduced by Syngenta Crop Protection AG, Basel, Switzerland.
Chrysanthemum × morifolium is an old-time favorite for fall gardens and greenhouse displays. This herbaceous perennial originated in eastern Asia, where it has long been cultivated for its showy blooms and fragrant, deeply lobed foliage. Hundreds of mum varieties are grown in modern gardens.
Like most mums, those in the Mildred™ Series thrive in full sun and a fertile, well-drained growing medium. Although typically planted as seasonal annuals, most hardy mums can be used as border perennials in USDA hardiness zones 6 through 9. Pinch back developing flowering stems to encourage a tidier habit and heavier flowering.
