CHRYSANTHEMUM x morifolium 'White Cherie'( CHERIE SERIES) PP09845
The chrysanthemum 'White Cherie' produces numerous small, white, yellow-eyed "daisies" on dense, mounded, 8- to 12-inch (20 to 30 cm) plants. The 1.5-inch-wide (4 cm), single to semi-double blooms appear in autumn under "natural" conditions. Greenhouse-grown specimens can be brought into flower at other seasons, blooming about 8 weeks after 2 weeks of "long nights" (13.5 hours or more). This vegetatively propagated mum was introduced by Yoder Brothers of Barberton, Ohio. It is grown and sold as a seasonal pot plant.
Chrysanthemum × morifolium is an old-time favorite for fall gardens and greenhouse displays. This herbaceous perennial originated in eastern Asia, where it has long been cultivated for its showy blooms and fragrant, deeply lobed foliage. Hundreds of mum varieties are grown today.
Like most mums, 'White Cherie' thrives in full sun and a fertile, well-drained growing medium. Pinch back developing stems to encourage a tidier habit and heavier flowering.
