CHRYSANTHEMUM x morifolium 'Yococoa Beach'(COCOA BEACH) PP12317
Bred for use as a seasonal container plant, Cocoa Beach produces numerous burnt-orange, yellow-eyed, daisy-like blossoms on bushy, rounded, 12- to 16-inch (30 to 40 cm) plants. The 3.5-inch wide (8.5 cm), single to semi-double blooms open in autumn under "natural" conditions, but greenhouse-grown plants can be forced into bloom at other seasons. This vegetatively propagated cultivar was introduced and patented by Yoder Brothers of Barberton, Ohio.
C. × morifolium originated in eastern Asia, where this herbaceous perennial has been cultivated and bred for many centuries. Its many cultivars are grown for their showy blooms, which are borne above clumps of fragrant, deeply lobed leaves.
Like most mums, Cocoa Beach thrives in full sun and a fertile, well-drained growing medium. Pinch back developing flowering stems to encourage a tidier habit and heavier flowering.
