CHRYSANTHEMUM x morifolium 'Yomankato'( MANKATO SERIES) PP13057
The original member of the Mankato Series of "anemone-type" chrysanthemums, 'Yomankato' produces masses of white-petaled, anemone-type blossoms with white and yellow, pincushion-shaped eyes. The bushy, rounded plants are 12 to 16 inches (30 to 40 cm) tall. The 3-inch-wide (8 cm), single to semi-double blooms open in autumn under "natural" conditions, but greenhouse-grown specimens can be brought into flower at other seasons. Mankato Series mums were introduced by Yoder Brothers of Barberton, Ohio. They are grown and sold as seasonal pot plants.
C. × morifolium originated in eastern Asia, where this herbaceous perennial has been cultivated and bred for many centuries. Its many cultivars are grown for their showy blooms, which are borne above clumps of fragrant, deeply lobed leaves.
Like most mums, 'Yomankato' thrives in full sun and a fertile, well-drained growing medium. Pinch back developing flowering stems to encourage a tidier habit and heavier flowering. Disbudded plants produce extra-large blooms.
