CHRYSANTHEMUM x morifolium 'Yoolivia'(OLIVIA™ ORANGE) PP13806
Decorative Chrysanthemum, Hardy Chrysanthemum
The hardy chrysanthemum Olivia™ Orange produces numerous double, copper-orange blossoms on densely branched, rounded, 7- to 12-inch (17 to 30 cm) plants. The 1.5- to 2-inch-wide (4 to 5 cm), many-petaled blooms appear from early- to mid-autumn, toward the end the fall "mum" season. This vegetatively propagated mum was introduced by Yoder Brothers of Barberton, Ohio.
Chrysanthemum × morifolium is an old-time favorite for fall gardens and greenhouse displays. This herbaceous perennial originated in eastern Asia, where it has long been cultivated for its showy blooms and fragrant, deeply lobed foliage. Hundreds of mum varieties are grown in modern gardens.
Like most mums, Olivia™ Orange thrives in full sun and a fertile, well-drained growing medium. This cultivar does relatively well in areas with hot climates, such as the Southeast United States. Although typically planted as seasonal annuals, most hardy mums can be used as border perennials in USDA hardiness zones 6 through 9. Pinch back developing flowering stems to encourage a tidier habit and heavier flowering.
