CHRYSANTHEMUM x morifolium 'Yopriscilla'(PRISCILLA) PP16850
Single Chrysanthemum
This garden chrysanthemum produces masses of lavender-purple, yellow-eyed, daisy-like blossoms on densely branched, rounded, 8- to 12-inch (20 to 30 cm) plants. The 1.5-inch-wide (3 cm), single to semi-double blooms open in late summer, very early in the fall "mum" season. This cultivar was introduced by Yoder Brothers of Barberton, Ohio, and is available only as vegetatively propagated plants.
The showy blooms and pungent, lobed leaves of garden chrysanthemums are staples of the autumn flower garden. These herbaceous perennials originated in eastern Asia, where they have been bred and selected for many centuries. Garden mums are customarily planted in late summer for seasonal display.
Like most garden mums, Priscilla thrives in full sun and a fertile, well-drained growing medium. Although typically planted as seasonal annuals, most garden mums can be used as border perennials in USDA hardiness zones 6 through 9. Pinch back plants in late spring or early summer to encourage a tidier habit and heavier fall flowering.
