CHRYSANTHEMUM x morifolium 'Yotabitha'(TABITHA) PP16110
Decorative Chrysanthemum, Tabitha Chrysanthemum
The beautiful rich-red double flowers of the Tabitha mum ('Yotabitha') lend vibrant color to any fall border.
In spring, this clump-forming herbaceous perennial puts forth open and spreading stems lined with medium green, fragrant, lobed leaves. In late spring to early summer the stems may be pinched back to encourage a more uniform, oval habit and increase the density of blooms for fall. Tabitha chrysanthemum begins blooming in early to mid-fall. Its fragrant flowers are fully double and warm red in color and cover the entire rounded foliage mass of the plant.
Decorative chrysanthemums prefer full sun and fertile garden loam with good drainage. Tabitha is usually grown as an annual though it will survive in regions with mild winters. It looks grandest when planted in masses and is ideal for seasonal containers. Its long-lasting flowers are great for cutting—though specimens grown as bedding plants have shorter stems making them less useful for arrangements. Plant this mum among red-tinted ornamental grasses, variegated Yucca and deep blue or purple asters for a bold autumnal garden show.
