CLEMATIS 'Evijohill'(JOSEPHINE™) PP12912
Clematis, Josephine Clematis
The spectacular flowers of Josephine™ have six large petals/tepals of soft pink and magenta and a large rosette of fine pink petals in the center. The vines are compact but the flowers are big and showy. This cultivar was introduced by Poulsen Roser International and bred in 1994 in the United Kingdom by Raymond J. Evison and Josephine Hill.
Hybrid clematis is a hardy deciduous woody vine that climbs by twining stems. The vines are lined with green compound leaves that appear in spring. The large flowers appear from spring to summer and are followed by fluffy clusters of silvery seeds.
Plant this vine in sites with full sun and fertile, well-drained soil. It grows and flowers best if its roots remain cool under a vegetative layer or thick mulch. As with most clematis, this selection adds a vertical element to the garden and looks best when trained on a fence, trellis or pergola.
This is a Group 2 clematis, which means its flower buds develop on the previous year's growth, so pruning should be done after it blooms.
