Clematis, Early Large-flowered Clematis, Fireworks Clematis
Fireworks clematis is a deciduous woody vine that bears many flowers early in the season. From late spring to summer, This robust climber shows off large lavender-blue flowers striped with red and punctuated with a circle of white stamens. This clematis grows best in sites with full sun and fertile, well drained soil. Flower buds develop from the previous year's growth, so pruning should be done after plants bloom. If left unpruned, plants will sporadically flower again in fall. As with most clematis, this patriotic selection adds a vertical element to the garden and looks best when trained on a fence, trellis or pergola.
