CLEMATIS 'Golden Harvest'

Image of Clematis 'Golden Harvest'

Family

Ranunculaceae

Botanical Name

CLEMATIS 'Golden Harvest'

Plant Common Name

Clematis, Golden Harvest Clematis, Tangutica Clematis

General Description

Often listed as a cultivar of Clematis tangutica, the hybrid ‘Golden Harvest’ is a vigorous climber that offers many smaller-sized, nodding golden yellow flowers in summer and early fall. These have a subtle, elegant appeal.

Hybrid clematis is a hardy deciduous woody vine that climbs by twining stems. The vines are lined with delicate green compound leaves. The smaller flowers first appear in summer and are followed by large, fluffy clusters of silky seeds.

Plant this vine in sites with full sun and fertile, well-drained soil. It grows and flowers best if its roots remain cool under a vegetative layer or thick mulch. As with most clematis, this selection adds a vertical element to the garden and looks best when trained on a fence, trellis or pergola.

This is a Group 3 clematis, which means it bears flowers on the current year’s growth and can be hard pruned.
