CLEMATIS 'Jackmanii Superba'
Clematis, Jackman's Superb Clematis, Late Large-flowered Clematis
The colorful, late-blooming ‘Jackmanii Supeba’ is a beautiful deciduous, woody vine that bears many flowers in mid to late summer. The single, deep purple blooms are like those of standard ‘Jackmaii’ but are larger and putatively more prolific. The flowers appear along twining stems against medium green compound leaves and are followed by clusters of long, curled, silky fruits,
Colorful and easy to grow, this clematis grows best in sites with full sun and fertile soil with good drainage. As with most clematis, this selection adds a vertical element to the garden and looks best when trained on a fence, trellis or pergola.
This is a Group 3 clematis, which means it bears flowers on the current year’s growth and can be hard pruned.
