CLEMATIS 'Lincoln Star'
Clematis, Early Large-flowered Clematis, Lincoln Star Clematis
’Lincoln Star’ is a vine that has large, single raspberry-colored flowers that bloom in early summer, with a second flush of bloom later in the season when the flowers are a paler pink color, epsecially on the petal edges. The pollen-carrying anthers are a rich red.
Lincoln Star clematis prefers a position with at least five to six hours of sun per day (although full sun will fade the flower color) and fertile, well-drained soil. Mulch over the vine's rootzone to keep soil cool. In early spring, remove any dead or damaged vines and prune to retain plant height back to an area of strong, healthy buds. This cultivar may be used to dress up a wall, trellis, or arbor, or it can be allowed to scramble over shrubs or into small trees.
