Helping You Become a More Successful Gardener
Clematis, Late Large-flowered Clematis, Ramona Clematis
The Ramona clematis is a vigorous perennial vine with large, open-faced, light-blue flowers. Its bloom period may run from spring to the end of summer. The vine flowers on both old and new wood. Prune old stems to four live buds to limit growth to new wood that will then bloom heavily in summer. Or leave old stems for bloom in spring and a somewhat smaller show in summer on new wood.
For full growth, give 'Ramona' moist, well-drained, rich soil and shade for its roots. Full sun encourages the best flwoering display. It will climb trellises, arbors and fences and will clamber up evergreen trees. It will also grow as a groundcover when unsupported.
