CLEMATIS 'Vanso'(BLUE LIGHT) PP15953
Blue Light Clematis, Clematis
The large fully double flowers of Blue Lightâ„¢ are clear violet blue. Each flower has a neat rosette of shorter doubled petals/tepals in the center of each. This vigorous early to mid-season bloomer was introduced by Pride of Place Plants of Sidney, California and bred by Frans C. M van Haastest of Holland.
Hybrid clematis is a hardy deciduous woody vine that climbs by twining stems. The vines are lined with green compound leaves that appear in spring. The large flowers appear from late spring to summer and are followed by fluffy clusters of silvery seeds.
Clematis grows best in sites with full sun and fertile, well-drained soil. It grows and flowers best if its roots remain cool under a vegetative layer or thick mulch. If left unpruned, plants will sporadically flower again in fall. As with most clematis, this selection adds a vertical element to the garden and looks best when trained on a fence, trellis or pergola.
This is a Group 2 clematis, which means its flower buds develop on the previous year's growth, so pruning should be done after it blooms.
