CLEMATIS 'Venosa Violacea'
Clematis, Violet Veined Clematis, Viticella Clematis
Violet veined clematis is a compact, deciduous woody vine that bears many flowers late in the season. From summer to autumn, profuse small violet-blue flowers, which fade to paler violet blue towards their centers, cover these twining vines. If left unpruned, they will sporadically flower again in fall. This clematis is a longtime favorite that has been in cultivation since 1910. It grows best in sites with full sun and fertile, well drained soil. As with most clematis, this selection adds a vertical element to the garden and looks best when trained on a fence, trellis or pergola.
