Clematis, Late Large-flowered Clematis, Victoria Clematis
Clematis ’Victoria’ is a strong-growing vine that has large and elegant royal purple flowers that bloom in midsummer onwards to autumn. The center of the flowerheads are filled with green-yellow anthers from which pollen is shed.
This clematis selection prefers a position with at least five to six hours of sun per day and fertile, well-drained soil. Shade the rootzone with mulch or surrounding plants to keep the soil cool and moist. In early spring, prune each stem's growth down to a pair of strong buds above the soil level. ‘Victoria’ can be used to dress up a wall, trellis, or arbor, or it can be allowed to scramble over shrubs or into small trees.
