Yoder Brothers

Family

Asteraceae

Botanical Name

COREOPSIS grandiflora 'Domino'

Plant Common Name

Domino Largeflower Tickseed, Large-flowered Coreopsis, Largeflower Tickseed

General Description

The specific name "grandiflora" means large flowered, so it should come as no surprise that this compact perennial has big bold flowers.

The large-flowered coreopsis 'Domino' originates from central and eastern North America. Its puts forth substantial clumps of medium green foliage that become covered with many golden, single daisies with burgundy at the base of each fringed petal. The blooms stand tall on stiff leafless stems from late spring to midsummer. They are highly attractive to butterflies and will continue blooming if deadheaded regularly.

'Domino' is a sun-loving plant that prefers average to poor well-drained soil and is surprisingly drought tolerant once established. Plants can tolerate part sun, but grow leggier in lower light and bloom less.

This sunny, bold coreopsis makes a super addition to sunny perennial borders, butterfly gardens or rock gardens.
