Family

Asteraceae

Botanical Name

COREOPSIS lanceolata 'Sterntaler'

Plant Common Name

Lanceleaf Coreopsis, Lanceleaf Tickseed, Sterntaler Lanceleaf Tickseed

General Description

A showy, long-blooming coreopsis, ‘Sterntaler‘ is descended from an herbaceous perennial native to the southern and central U.S. It is notable for large, golden-yellow flowers with a central circle of burgundy. The plant is clump-forming, with lance-shaped leaves and thin stems that rise above them, bearing one flower each, from mid summer to frost in autumn.

Like most coreopsis, ‘Rotkehlchen’ grows and flowers best in full to part sun and well drained, average soil. It will continue to bloom as long as spent flowers are sheared. The flowers make long-lasting cut flowers. This coreopsis makes a great addition to sunny perennial borders, containers, and wildflower gardens. Its flowers are highly attractive to butterflies.
