COREOPSIS 'Moonlight' PPAF
Coreopsis, Hybrid Tickseed, Moonlight Tickseed
Moonlight tickseed brings the romantic pale moonlight colors to life upon the pale yellow flowers all across its stems from summer to frost. By midsummer, these hybrid, upright plants with deeply divided dark green foliage yield hundreds of eight-petaled, light yellow flowers with golden yellow central discs. Each tiny petal has two veins that creates the look of a three-part, ridged duckfoot. In cool weather the light yellow takes on a peachy blush. Butterflies and bees will visit the flowers every chance they get, but these flowers do not produce many seeds.
Like most Coreopsis, these do best in sites with full to part sun and well drained, average soil that is not excessively acidic. Plants will continue blooming into fall if spent flowers are promptly removed. This butterfly magnet looks stupendous when massed with other sun-loving perennials and ornamental grasses, and is always lovely in meadows.
