DAHLIA( DALINA® SERIES)
Dahlia, Dahlina Series Dahlias
The Dalina® Series of dahlias are tender, tuberous perennials developed for their medium-sized semi-double flowers upon bushy, uniform plants. They are a collection of hybrid cultivars, each named after tropical islands, such as Barbados or Tonga. The beautiful green foliage is adorned with white, yellow, red, or violet-tinted flowers. The petals surround a small golden yellow center that may or may not be fully visible.
Dahlias prefer fertile, well-drained soil and full to partial sun. They also grow well in containers. Ideally, night temperatures should be comfortably cool, and days should lack overbearing humidity. Summer's heavy downpours can give dahlia plants a beating. Ensure plants have good air circulation to help forestall disease that prefer wet leaves. They make excellent bedding or small container plants and outstanding cut flowers. In cold-winter regions, lift and store the tubers indoors and replant them in spring when the soil has warmed. In hot, humid tropical climates, plant the tubers after the summer rainy season.
