DAHLIA( DAHLINOVA® SERIES)
Dahlia, Dahlinova® Series Dahlias, Decorative Dahlia
The hybrids in the Dahlinova® Series are compact, mounding, heavy-flowering and come in an array of colors. Their flowers are double to semi-double.
Nothing beats dahlias as ever-blooming bedding plants and cut flowers. These herbaceous warm season tender perennials have bulbous underground tubers. Their green foliage is compound and lush. The rounded double to semi-double blooms are bright and long-lasting. It is good to remove the buds with spent flowers to encourage continued flowering.
Dahlias prefer well-drained, fertile soil and full to partial sun. Cultivars are often grown from divisions and cuttings to preserve their unique characteristics; however dahlias in the Dahlinova® Series are seed grown. In colder regions, sow seeds after the danger of frost has passed or in the fall in frost free zones. Dahlias are cold sensitive and their tuberous roots should be lifted and overwintered in cool dry locations where winters are harsh.
