DAHLIA( FIGARO SERIES)
Dahlia, Decorative Dahlia, Figaro Series Dahlias
The dwarf dahlias in the Figaro Series are heavy-flowering and have a uniform habit. They have shiny green foliage and a bushy branching habit.
Nothing beats dahlias as everblooming warm season bedding plants and cut flowers. These herbaceous warm season tender perennials have bulbous underground tubers. Their green foliage is compound and lush. The rounded double, semi-double or pompon-type blooms are bright and long-lasting. These dahlias produce many medium-sized flowers all season. Colors include orange, red, violet, white and yellow. It is good to remove the old buds from spent flowers to encourage continued flowering.
Dahlias prefer well-drained, fertile soil and full to partial sun. Cultivars are often grown from divisions and cuttings to preserve their unique characteristics; however dahlias in the Figaro Series are seed grown. In colder regions, plant starts after the danger of frost has passed. In frost free zones, they can be planted in fall for continuous winter color. Dahlias are cold sensitive and their tuberous roots should be lifted and overwintered in cool dry locations where not hardy. They look best in containers and as bedding plants when days are sunny and warm and the nights are comfortably cool.
