DAHLIA 'Figaro Violet Shades'( FIGARO SERIES)
Dahlia, Decorative Dahlia, Figaro Violet Shades Dahlia
The Dahlia mix ‘Figaro Violet Shades’ has a suite of violet-flowered dahlias that are dwarf, uniform and heavy-flowering. They have shiny green foliage and bushy branching habits.
Nothing beats dahlias as everblooming warm season bedding plants and cut flowers. These herbaceous warm season tender perennials have bulbous underground tubers. Their green foliage is compound and lush. The rounded double to semi-double blooms are long-lasting, appear all season and come in various shades of violet-purple. It is good to remove the old buds from spent flowers to encourage continued flowering.
Dahlias prefer well-drained, fertile soil and full to partial sun. Cultivars are often grown from divisions and cuttings to preserve their unique characteristics; however dahlias in the Figaro Series are seed grown. In colder regions, sow seeds after the danger of frost has passed or in the fall in frost free zones. Dahlias are cold sensitive and their tuberous roots should be lifted and overwintered in cool dry locations where not hardy. They look best in containers and as bedding plants.
