DAHLIA( GALLERY SERIES)
Dahlia, Gallery Series Dahlias
The award-winning Gallery Series dahlias are tender, tuberous perennials, compact and well-branched with lots of colorful flowers. These hybrids have lush green leaves and double (extra petals), miniature-class flowers in an array of clear, bright colors. Blooming occurs as long as temperatures are warm. In cool to cold climates, dahlias are grown as annuals and flowering begins in mid-summer.
Dahlias prefer fertile, well-drained soil and full to partial sun. They also grow well in containers. Ideally, night temperatures should be comfortably cool, and days should lack overbearing humidity. Ensure plants have good air circulation to forestall the diseases that like wet leaves. Dahlias are excellent bedding plants and profuse bloomers in containers when watered attentively. They are also outstanding for cut flowers. Lift and store tubers indoors in cold winter regions. In hot, humid or tropical climates, they do best if planted after summer or the wet season.
