Verwer Dahlias BV

Family

Asteraceae

Botanical Name

DAHLIA( HAPPY SINGLE™ SERIES)

Plant Common Name

Dahlia, Happy Single Series Dahlias, Single Dahlia

General Description

Dahlias in the Happy Single™ Series are compact, well-branched, heavy-flowering and have an upright spreading habit. Their foliage is dark green to purple and the cheerful flowers are single daisies.

Nothing beats dahlias as everblooming warm season bedding plants and cut flowers. These herbaceous warm season tender perennials have bulbous underground tubers. Their foliage is compound and lush. The rounded single blooms are bright and long-lasting. These dahlias produce many medium-sized flowers all season in various shades of red, lavender, pink, yellow, white or bicolors—all with dark centers. It is good to remove the old buds from spent flowers to encourage continued flowering.

Dahlias prefer well-drained, fertile soil and full to partial sun. Cultivars are often grown from divisions and cuttings to preserve their unique characteristics; however dahlias in the Happy Single™ Series are seed grown. In colder regions, sow seeds after the danger of frost has passed or in the fall in frost free zones. Dahlias are cold sensitive and their tuberous roots should be lifted and overwintered in cool dry locations where not hardy.

Bedding dahlias are unsurpassed for consistent garden color. Beauties, like those in the Mystic Series, are ideal for flower borders, containers and cutting gardens.
