DELPHINIUM( ROUND TABLE SERIES)
Round Table Delphinium
Delphiniums in the Round Table Series comprise a mixture of colors from the popular Pacific Giant Strain. These impressively tall-growing hybrids produce long spires of semi-double flowers in an array of colors including white, lavender, blue and purple, each with a cultivar name relevant to Camelot. The showy blooms arise from clumps of deeply-lobed, medium-green foliage in early to midsummer, and are visited by bees, butterflies and hummingbirds.
Although perennial, Pacific Giant hybrid delphiniums are typically treated as annuals or biennials. They excel in full sun and fertile, well-drained, slightly alkaline soil. Their tall, dense flower spikes should be staked when about knee-high to prevent toppling from wind and rain. Once the flowers have finished blooming, cut them back to just above where smaller flowering shoots are forming to prolong flowering. The plants may also bloom a second time by early autumn. Watch closely for snails and slugs, as these can ravage new spring growth.
Round Table Series delphiniums add drama to mixed beds and borders with their beautiful colors and majestic, imposing height. Their gorgeous, dense bloom spikes also make outstanding cut flowers.
