DIANTHUS 'Candy Dish'
Candy Dish Dianthus, Hybrid Pinks
The extremely fragrant, vivid reddish pink flowers of ‘Candy Dish’ will add color to any sunny garden. It is a compact, clump-forming hybrid perennial that blooms early in the season.
This low-growing pink forms neat mounds of blue-green strappy leaves. In early summer, it produces double, fragrant rosy pink blossoms with red markings and frilly pinked edges. Deadheading will encourage further bloom but the first flush is always the heaviest.
Grow Dianthus in full to partial sun and any well-drained garden soil with a neutral to alkaline pH. This is a low-maintenance plant with few pest and disease problems, though overwatering can cause crown and root rot. It is carefree and ideal for bedding, containers or any perennial garden with good light.
