Family

Asteraceae

Botanical Name

ECHINACEA purpurea 'Coconut Lime' PP18617

Plant Common Name

Coconut Lime Coneflower, Eastern Purple Coneflower

General Description

The semi-double white and green blooms of this unique coneflower will add a touch of pizazz to any sunny border.

The eastern purple (or not so purple) coneflower is an herbaceous perennial that originates from the eastern United States. In early to late summer 'Coconut Lime' bears long, sturdy stems topped with flower heads decorated with a row of ivory petals, a central ruff of green and ivory petals, and an orange-yellow eye. Bloom time may be extended if spent flowers are removed, or deadheaded, and plants self-sow freely, but not aggressively, if seedheads are allowed to remain.

This cool perennial is happiest when planted in sites with full sun and moderately fertile soil with good drainage. 'Coconut Lime' is an excellent choice for any sunny perennial garden, mixed border or wildflower garden. Its blooms are attractive to butterflies, and birds flock to its dry, seed-filled heads.
